I write what I observe and what I feel inside.
I started writing poetry a few years after leaving the Scots Guards. Like most Ex Service Personnel, it took many years to adjust to civilian life.
Drink and drugs seemed to be the order of the day. This way of life went on for nearly 20 year's glad to say I no longer live that way. Im more at peace with myself than at any time in my life.
Why did it take so long - I dont know!
I read a book by Dr Wayne Dyer – Change Your Thoughts, Change Your Life.
It’s Dr Dyer interpretation of the Tao Te Ching. While reading it, I came across this gem by Witter Bynner 1944; this is his translation of the 53rd verse of the Tao.
It blew me away......Enjoy, Spike
See how fine the palaces
And see how poor the farms
How bare the peasants granaries
While gentry wear embroideries
Hiding sharpened arms
The more they have, the more seize
How can there be such men as these
Who never hunger, never thirst
Yet eat and drink until they burst
Anyone looking for spiritual guidance, I strongly recommend –
